Abstract
The present study aims to identify communication skills in the third-grade Persian textbook. The research method was a directed qualitative content analysis, and the study population included the entire content of the third-grade Persian textbook. Data analysis was conducted using a systematic model based on the classification of communication skills. Data were collected through library research and analyzed via systematic categorization, coding, and theme development processes. Findings were classified into three main categories: listening skills, reading skills, and effective speaking skills. Listening skills were categorized into five components: reflecting on the creation of the universe, enjoying the beauty of nature, active listening, collective responsibility, and enhancing critical thinking and analysis. Reading skills were classified into five components: encouraging thinking and reading books, promoting the reading of literature, motivating scientific knowledge advancement, considering environmental advertisements, and public reading. Finally, effective speaking skills were divided into ten components, including strengthening friendly communication, fostering teacher-student relationships, instilling hope and support for children, promoting honest and fearless speech, consulting others in decision-making, and more. The results indicated that the third-grade Persian textbook placed greater emphasis on speaking skills, while comparatively less attention was given to other communication skills such as listening and reading. Keywords: Communication Skills, Content Analysis, Persian Textbook, Students, Third Grade
