Abstract
In today's world, effective and interactive communication with stakeholders and audiences, particularly in the domain of urban management, is of paramount importance. As such, organizational public relations units, utilizing various communication tools, can play a significant role in informing citizens and securing their satisfaction. This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between the performance of urban management public relations and the sustainable development of Isfahan city. The statistical population of the study consisted of 200 managers, experts, and public relations specialists in Isfahan. Using convenience sampling and based on Morgan's sampling table, 135 individuals were selected as the sample. This research employed a correlational descriptive method. The research instrument was a standardized questionnaire, the content validity of which was confirmed by supervisors and experts, and its reliability was verified through Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Subsequently, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test indicated that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, data analysis was performed using Spearman's correlation test. The results revealed a positive and significant relationship between the activities of urban management public relations and the sustainable development of Isfahan City. Furthermore, similar relationships were observed between the communicative, promotional, publishing, and research functions of public relations and sustainable development. Specifically, the correlation coefficients were: 0.643 between overall public relations performance and sustainable development; 0.626 between communicative performance and sustainable development; 0.525 for promotional performance; 0.496 for publishing performance; and 0.54 for research performance. All coefficients were significant at the 0.001 level. The findings of this research indicate that public relations can serve as an effective tool in contributing to sustainable urban development. Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen the communicative, promotional, publishing, and research functions of public relations to further contribute to the sustainable development of Isfahan City.
