Abstract
In the contemporary era, social media has emerged as one of the most influential communication tools, playing a pivotal role in information dissemination and the enhancement of health literacy. This study aims to examine the role of social media in improving users’ health literacy. Employing a review methodology, the research analyzes scientific and scholarly sources to elucidate the multifaceted functions of social media in this domain. Findings indicate that social media effectively increases users’ awareness and empowerment in managing their health through the production and dissemination of credible content, facilitation of access to health information, creation of interactive and supportive environments, and promotion of media literacy education. Furthermore, social media platforms provide a space for dialogue and cultural shaping, contributing to the transformation of health-related attitudes and behaviors. The results underscore the critical importance of purposeful and informed utilization of social media capacities to advance health literacy and improve public health indicators.
