In the interdisciplinary examination of social capital alongside other forms of capital (economic, cultural, and symbolic) across social sciences, political economy, and philosophy, the theoretical framework of Pierre Bourdieu is predominantly employed. This study focuses on the concept of social capital and investigates its dimensions and transformations within the context of contemporary Iran. To explain this trend, three key theoretical perspectives are analyzed: the "Rentier Economy and Petro-Authoritarianism," "Tribal and Pastoral Social Structures," and "Governance Deficiencies." The findings reveal that the erosion of social capital correlates with rising distrust, reduced civic engagement, and increasing social pathologies. The study concludes that restoring social capital necessitates strengthening collective ethics, social cohesion, and active citizen participation.
