With the growth and advancement of technology in recent years, the expansion and transformation of information through social media have been the source of the popularity of these Internet-based media. Today, social media play different roles in the individual, social, and occupational life. The present study aims to examine the effect of social media on employees job performance by considering the role of social capital. This research is a descriptive and correlational one. To collect data, the field investigation questionnaire was used. The research population is 600 employees of Shahid Montazeri Power Generation Management Co. in the city of Isfahan, Iran, and, based on Morgan Table, the sample is 234 people. Sampling was done with simple random sampling. The content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by three professors and reliability of the questionnaire was calculated by Cronbach's alpha method. To verify the reliability of the indexes, factor loadings coefficients, Cronbach's alpha, and combined reliability have been used. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics tests, that is structural equation and SPSS and Smart PLS, are used. This research consists of a main hypothesis and fourteen sub-hypotheses. Given the findings, the main hypothesis of the research, wich is the effect of social media on employees job performance, was rejected as the intermediary role of social capital was considered and the research sub-hypotheses, including the effect of cognitive use of social media on the number of instrumental ties, the effect of cognitive use of social media on relational social capital, the effect of the number of instrumental ties on the contextual performance, the effect of relational social capital on the task performance and the effect of relational social capital on contextual performance were confirmed.
